Work

I primarily work as a programmer, often for websites. I don't do web design. I let someone else do that. Then, I write the programs to make it all dynamic.

I've been slowing switching from programming to teaching. Soon, hopefully, I will mostly be teaching and rarely be programming.

Current Work

The Hypertension Initiative

This is a great project I'm working on at MUSC. We're collecting millions of records worth of data about care of hypertensive patients and then producing reports on how different forms of care are working. I'm specifically developing and maintaining the database and the web interface to the database.

Missouri University of Science & Technology

I am teaching beginning programming classes while I finish my PhD. I hope that I'll be done very soon. It is hard work to have my whole family waiting for me to finish. The PhD is not hard work - just trying to keep my wife and kids happy while I finish it.

Kainaw, Inc.

This is my incorporated self. I provide server hosting and maintentance for a small group of companies. At one point I was servicing over 100 companies, but I had to make a choice between my health and sanity or all that work.

Past Work

Spawar Charleston

Spawar (Space and Naval Warfare) is a Navy entity for what they believe is high-tech computer and electronic applications. I enjoyed most of my time there, but it all went downhill when I caught a contracting company stealing computers and software and I made the mistake of reporting it.

College of Charleston

While getting my degree at the College of Charleston, I did a lot of random computer work and various research projects.

The American Theater

I helped with a lot of the design and construction of the American Theater while employed by Virtual Reality South. My big mistake there was opening the theater. It's a long story.

Why does everyone always say, "You were a Marine?" like it is so unbelievable?

AMC Theatres

As a teenager, I mainly worked as a projectionist at our local collection of AMC Theatres.
