Organizations
Yes, I am very happy being alone with my computer. But, my wife has strongly suggested that I join some organizations that share my interests. Following her advice, I agreed to only join those that specifically invited me. Well, some did.
- CofC ACM Student Chapter
- This is commonly called "The Computer Club" at the College of Charleston. In the 2002-2003 school year, I served as President of the CofC ACM. Technically, I'm not a member anymore since I graduated, but I still list it since I served as President.
- Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)
- This is the big worldwide computer club. After placing high in my first two trips to the regional ACM Programming Competition, they sent me a letter asking if I would join.
- Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE)
- This is the International Honor Society for the Computing Sciences. Because of my high GPA, I was qualified to join. The professors at the College of Charleston asked me to join because they knew I wanted to be a professor and they felt it would be a good organization for that.
- Golden Key National Honor Society
- An organization for those with a GPA over 3.70 (or is it 3.75). Other than a resume, I don't really know what this organization is for.
- Carolina Hedgehog Society
- I'm not all academic. I like to spend time with hedgehogs. I feel that happiness is like a hedgehog, or more like a hedgehog peeing on you. Everyone can see it, but only you feel the warmth.
